Hello I’m Jonathan and welcome to my decorating business - The Art of Colour. I use my background in colour to help you to choose the shades that enhance your space, making rooms feel balanced and just right.
For 30 years, I have worked in television post production, honing my craft as a colourist to bring images to life. Now, I’ve turned my expertise and passion for colour towards homes - offering painting and decorating services that combine technical skill with artistic vision.

I take great care to protect your space while I work. All furniture and flooring are carefully covered with sheeting to prevent any splatters. I also use Mirka dust free sanding tools which keeps the air clean and minimises mess. Once the job is complete, everything is tidied and your home is left clean and ready to enjoy.
In most cases, I just ask that small or delicate items are moved before I arrive. Larger pieces may need to be shifted to give enough space to work safely and efficiently — If you can't manage to move anything yourself please let me know beforehand.
Yes, that’s no problem at all. I’m happy to use paint you have supplied as long as it’s suitable for the surface and job in hand.
I’m based near Oakhill in Somerset and cover the whole county including Wells, Frome, Bruton, Castle Cary, Evercreech, and surrounding villages.
Yes I provide free, no obligation estimates. I normally visit to look at the space, or in some cases I can give an estimate from photos and a quick chat about your plans.
Absolutely. With over 30 years’ experience working with colour, I can help you find shades that suit your home’s style, lighting and atmosphere. I often work with Farrow & Ball and Little Greene palettes, but I’m happy to use any brand you prefer.
I take on all types of interior decorating — from single rooms and feature walls to full-home redecorations. I also handle exterior painting, including masonry, doors, windows and fencing.
Yes — I work with Mirka dust-free sanding equipment. It keeps harmul and messy dust to a minimum and helps create a clean, smooth base for the best possible finish.
Yes — I’m fully insured for public liability, giving you complete peace of mind while work is carried out in your home.
That depends on the size and condition of the space, but I’ll always give you a clear estimate before starting and keep you updated throughout.
